繁华闹市区，国产一名戾气十足的男子（金儿宪史 饰）被人推入滚滚车流，国产碾压身亡。此人是拥有黑道背景企业芙洛莱茵的寺原会长（石桥莲司 饰）的公子，两年前曾驾车冲入人群造成大规模伤亡，却凭借老爹的势力全身而退。任职于芙洛莱茵的铃木（生田斗真 饰）目睹车祸一幕，他的爱人当年就死在对方车轮之下，原本想亲手复仇的他此刻却被卷入难以预料的漩涡之中。附近高楼上，受雇于寺原的神秘杀手鲸（浅野忠信 饰）正怂恿猎物自杀，而楼下被称为蝉（山田凉介 饰）的冷血杀手则接到介绍人岩西（村上淳 饰）的指示，准备杀死鲸。寺原公子之死，让全然没有关系的几个人搅在一起，命运难测……本片根据伊坂幸太郎2004年发表的同名小说改编。

It is more memorable than Julien Duvivier's earlier silent version of 1925, also named Poil de Carotte.The part of Poil de Carotte was played by 11 year old Robert Lynen, who was alleged to have been discovered whilst walking down the Champs-Elysées in Paris. Lynen is totally captivating and the film made him an instant star, launching what looked like becoming a very promising film career – until he was shot dead whilst fighting against the Germans in 1944. Harry Baur, a legendary stage and film actor (who also died during World War II, allegedly at the hands of the Gestapo), also turns in a typically fine performance. The reconciliation between father and son at the end of the film provides its most enduring image, enough to melt the heart of all but the most stoical of spectators.
