英国ITV开始根据英国女作家Val McDermid的破案小说Dr.Tony Hill中的故事"Mermaids Singing"和"Shadows Rising"改编的英国悬疑破案剧集。之后又由其他人续写，国产后来在第四季度第二集"Torment"又改编自Val McDermid的Dr.Tony Hill中的故事"The Torment of Others"。Dr. Tony Hill 这个角色是个大学里面的法庭心理学家，国产他一起与一位非常干练的女刑事探员Carol Jordan 合作破了一个又一个非常棘手的悬疑案件！

The focus of their attention is the the Reading Club, a group of five women who meet regularly not to discuss books in fact, but to manage a investment fund they have established. Two of the members were hoping to cash out their investments, but were prevented from doing so by the others. There are several other suspects, all in one way or another connected to the financial and investment world, but when a second member of the book club is killed, the police realize they may need to look for an altogether different motive.
