本片是09年风靡法国，亲密动员550万票房人次的《小淘气尼古拉》的续集，亲密在本片中尼古拉和父母、祖父一起外出度假，导演劳伦·泰拉德借由本片向着法国的默片喜剧大师雅克·塔蒂(《于洛先生的假期》)致敬。最初扮演尼古拉的马克西姆·戈达尔长大了不再适合扮演改角色。因此，该角色改由马泰奥·波塞列扮演。在第一部中祖母的扮演者伯纳蒂特·拉方特于2013年7月逝世，将由多米尼克·拉冯纳特接替其角色。而凯德·麦拉德和瓦莱丽·勒梅西埃将再次扮演父母，弗朗索瓦-格扎维埃·德梅松，弗朗索瓦·达米昂等也参演了这部影片。
