剧情主要发生在一列从美国西海岸开到芝加哥火车上，性巴年轻出版商乔治克威与艺术品鉴赏家薜礼纳的秘书一见如故，性巴两人正在温存之际，车窗外却抛下薜礼纳的尸体，乔治因而卷入凶徒的追杀之中。而潜伏在火车上的联邦密探史威知道薜教授被杀的真相，亦遭势力庞大的罗杰杀害。雪球越滚越大，最后失控的火车头竟然撞进火车站之中。导演阿瑟·希勒拍出了紧凑俐落的气氛，高潮一波未平一波又起，压轴的火车大灾难在二十年前更是令人看得目定口呆的精彩特技场面。

回复 :A group of diverse individuals are suddenly taken from their homes and flown via helicopter to a futuristic bomb shelter in the desert, one-third of a mile below the surface of the Earth. There, they learn that a nuclear holocaust is taking place and that they've been "chosen" by computer to survive in the shelter in order to continue the human race. The shelter is designed to allow the people to exist underground comfortably for years, but they are faced with a threat nobody could have predicted: a colony of thousands of bloodthirsty vampire bats finds a way into the shelter and launches a series of vicious attacks where they claim the humans one by one.
