回复 :道教弟子许汉成研制出“白药”治病救人，效果极好。但他从不为官吏办事。后来，许汉成与陈玉姑结婚。经他救过的革命党人马昌和后来加入革命党的张老三把许汉成接到军中共事，但他不愿看到中华同胞相互危害，离开军人，在省城开药房，免费给穷人看病，在富人身上赚钱，“云南白药”与大药房名声越来越大，同时也引起官吏们的嫉妒。危难之际，马昌劝他忍耐求生，许汉成不答应，将全家托付马昌，独自去告状评理，但却惨死狱中，在狱中提了他向黑暗社会的抗议遗诗。
