The film uses CGI to bring the stories to life, but draws on animation's birth in silent film and early Disney to create proper, traditional visual storytelling. Werner Herzog narrates, reuniting with the team behind GRIZZLY MAN and CAVE OF FORGOTTEN DREAMS.

回复 :1995年8月8日，锦重工业小牧工厂航空事业总部为日本防卫厅研发的最新型直升机“Big B”即将试飞。该项目的重要参与者汤原一彰（江口洋介 饰）带着妻儿早早来到试飞场，准备见证这一激动人心的时刻。试飞前一段时间，汤原的儿子高彦（田口翔大 饰）登上直升机，而就在此时没有驾驶员Big B突然启动，带着男孩飞向空中，并最终悬停在新阳核电站上空。此后不久，自称“天空之蜂”的神秘人发出公告，要求立即废除全国的核电厂，否则将使Big B燃料耗尽后坠落在核反应堆中。时间一分一秒流逝，相关人士展开了对高彦的救援行动，而核电站的安危之间关系着全日本的命运……本片根据东野圭吾的同名原作改编。
