本剧改编自手冢治虫的《新选组》，石原视频讲述了父亲被斩杀的丘十郎为了磨练剑术报仇加入了新选组。在入伍考试中认识了冷酷的少年大作。出身不明，石原视频剑手光一的大作作为期待的大型新人被引入新选组。2人虽然培养了火热的友情，但不知不觉被时代的波浪捉弄，进入了必须互相残杀的悲壮的命运。
