杨树（张嘉译 饰）人到中年，海战独自抚养着十八岁的女儿杨树苗（关晓彤 饰），海战树苗正是叛逆的年龄，张扬不羁的她和保守老实的杨树之间产生了诸多的矛盾。杨树是女老板唐红（闫妮 饰）的司机，尽管唐红才貌双全，但个性清高的她至今依旧单身。随着时间的推移，唐红渐渐爱上了踏实善良的杨树，但身份的巨大差异成为了坚实的屏蔽横亘在两人之间。在树苗的撮合之下，杨树结识了名叫顾菁菁（江疏影 饰）的年轻女子，顾菁菁对杨树一见倾心，杨树也因为顾菁菁和自己的前妻十分相像而对其心生好感。眼看着顾菁菁和杨树之间的距离越走越近，唐红的心里很不是滋味。
