阪本がオリジナル脚本を執筆し、动漫自ら監督を務める「冬薔薇」は、动漫ある港町を舞台とする物語。“ロクデナシ”という言葉が似合う渡口淳は専門学校にも行かず、半端な不良仲間とつるみ、友人や女から金をせびってダラダラと生きていた。一方、埋め立て用の土砂を運ぶ海運業を営むが、時代とともに仕事が減り、後継者不足に頭を悩ませる淳の両親。そんな折、淳の仲間が何者かに襲われる事件が起きる。

They both have young children and Jack's wife, Terry (Laura Dern) is close with Hank's wife, Edith (Naomi Watts).
