在一场抵抗外星侵略的战斗中，野兽武圣大宇牺牲了。临终前，野兽他叮嘱徒弟小巨兽蒲牢去寻找金箍的下一位传人。懵懵懂懂的蒲牢走遍千山万水也没找到什么金箍的“真命天子”，却一不小心被只野猴将金箍夺了去。两位误打误撞来到培养天选之子的学院，猴子也被祖师命名为“空”。好景不长，顽劣的猴子很快闯下大祸，和蒲牢一起被逐出师门。地球上，两人遇到准备孤身前往锐铂城营救族人的小女孩努瓦，并被她认定为是救世的英雄。蒲牢和空学艺虽然未精但信心满满，带着努瓦开始了一场毫无计划的营救行动……

The studio workers of Shaw Brothers are on strike for better pay and to support workers who have been sacked, they organised a variety show to collect funds and donations. During the show, Malaysian film legend P Ramlee and his best friend Jamil Sulong wrote an iconic Raya song (Festival song) that is still sung today during the Raya Festival of Eid every year. Four other stories and sub-plots help the movie move forward.
